Moussaka

Moussaka: the recipe for the tasty pie


We'll show you step-by-step how to make delicious Greek moussaka:








Ingredients: 

  • Minced meat 
  • Onion 
  • Potato 
  • Zucchini 
  • Eggplants 
  • Seeds oil 
  • Laurel leaves 
  • Cinnamon
  • Fresh marjoram
  • Tomato sauce 
  • Canned tomatoes 
  • 100 g of butter 
  • 1 l of whole milk 
  • Nutmeg 
  • Pepper
  • 50 g of grated cheese 
  • 3 egg yolks

Method:




1. Slice the vegetables then fry them in seed oil. 

2. Aside stir fry onion and oil, when it's golden remove from the stove and save for later.

3. In the same pan cook meat, seasoning it with marjoram, laurel, salt, pepper and cinnamon. 

4. Cook for 15 minutes, then add the onions from before, canned tomatoes and tomato sauce. 

5. Let cook for 50 minutes at medium heat stirring from time to time. 

6. For bechamel sauce melt butter in a saucepan, then mix flour and milk. 

7. When it's thick enough season with salt, pepper, nutmeg and grated cheese. 
8. Lastly stir in egg yolks. 

9. Add bechamel sauce to meat. 

10. Assemble the moussaka in a buttered mold with breadcrumbs: make the layers with vegetables, then meat and finish with a thick layer of bechamel sauce. 

11. Sprinkle with some grated cheese. 

12. Bake at 180° for 40 minutes.
